The Role of the Chair

Get the most out of your Board, understand key relationships and keep trustees engaged and committed. This essential course is delivered by C&BS Head of Governance & Engagement, Catriona Reynolds.

Delivered over two three-hour online sessions, Catriona’s course addresses:

  • Understanding your core governance role
  • Preparing for and chairing meetings effectively
  • Understanding relationships between the Chair, the Board and the CEO
  • Understanding the relationships between the Chair and other trustees
  • Keeping your trustees engaged and committed to their role

A reading list (all material available online) is provided in advance of each session to give you background information on different topics. Copies of any exercises will also be sent out in advance so that you can read them and, where appropriate, print them out before taking part. Each session will be a blend of slide presentation, practical exercises carried out in smaller groups, and whole group feedback and discussion.

Ideal if… you are a new Chair or an experience Chair looking for a refresher course. This is also a great opportunity to develop and share best practice with your fellow Chairs in the culture sector.

This is a hugely popular course, so don’t forget to book early…
Is The role of the Chair event fully booked already? I missed the ‘early bird’…it’s like trying to get tickets for Glastonbury!
It’s a great opportunity to take time out and reflect on one’s practice, to learn from others and share experiences and issues in a safe space.
