Fundraising Matters | GDPR Essentials for Fundraising

Are you unsure about whether you can telephone, email or write to a member or supporter? Have you heard of an LIA (Legitimate Interest Assessment) but been too scared to even go there? Are you confident you’re dealing with prospects in line with GDPR, PECR, TPS and other acronyms

Join data protection expert Laura Irvine for an in-person course tackling the essentials you need to know about GDPR for fundraising. This course will give you every confidence in preparing to carry out fundraising campaigns or simply in your day-to-day interactions with donors and prospects.

What will you learn?

Over this three-hour online session, you’ll explore:

  • Data protection basics, including consent vs legitimate interests, fairness and transparency
  • How to carry out prospect research without losing trust
  • Busting the myths for your sector, e.g. business contacts and personal contacts – why are they different?
  • The answer to many more tricky data protection questions!
Who is it for?

This course is for fundraisers looking for all-round data protection law training. This interactive half-day course will provide you with a clear understanding of the law, will explore practical examples to help you reflect on your organisation’s current approaches and processes, and will give you confidence in preparing for any future fundraising campaigns.

Laura Irvine is the best speaker I have ever heard on this subject – and I have heard a few! I would prioritise her sessions!
