From the 1877 court case featuring before and after photographs used by Dr Barnardo’s Homes through to now, the images that we use in fundraising have generated debate in the press and with fundraisers.
In this insight fundraising expert Marina Jones will discuss the historical use of images in fundraising and some of the controversies that have arisen. She will also explore the neuroscience and behavioural science of what images are most effective and why.
Some of the questions we’ll consider in this session include:
- Should we use real people in need?
- How do we give beneficiaries dignity?
- How susceptible are we to images?
- Should we use images that are proven to raise more money to help or use images that better reflect the experience of those we seek to help?
Who is it for?
People working in fundraising, people working in communications related to fundraising, and anyone who is interested in learning more about the use of images in fundraising.
