Organisational announcement from Jane Morrison-Ross, Chair of Culture & Business Scotland

On behalf of the Board of C&BS, I would like to inform our members and stakeholders of the following change to our organisation:

Chief Executive David Watt leaves Culture & Business Scotland

In light of an organisational restructure due to a significant change in funding arrangements, David Watt has asked us to let colleagues know that he has taken the decision to leave Culture & Business Scotland with effect from 14 March 2025.

We would like to thank David for his service and to wish him well for the future. Under David’s leadership, Culture & Business Scotland underwent a successful rebrand which reflected the breadth of the organisation’s reach across arts and heritage sectors, and the delivery of collaborative programmes which enabled over 250 businesses in Scotland to work with and invest over £3m into the culture sector.

C&BS is undertaking a strategic re-evaluation following the allocation of development funding from Creative Scotland to ensure the organisation is in the best shape for the future. The Board has appointed David Nelson as interim director while this process is being finalised.

The business of boards: The benefits of bringing fresh and diverse talent into culture boardrooms
