Arts & Business Scotland has announced changes to its board with the resignation of Douglas Smith. Douglas has a long association with A&BS as a member of its advisory board prior to joining the new board in 2011 when the organisation became an independent Scottish charity.

Chair of the Board Sarah Deas said: “Douglas has been a long standing supporter of Arts & Business Scotland, providing valuable expertise and assistance. We are indebted to Douglas for his contribution to the Board and wish him well in the future.”

Douglas Smith is Chairman of CBRE in Scotland and Executive Director of its UK National Team, he is responsible for the Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices and also co-ordinates the Real Estate Finance activities of the National Team, splitting his working week between Scotland and London.

He serves on the Executive Committee of Scottish Council for Development and Industry and is an Honorary Professor in the School of the Built Environment at Heriot Watt University

Douglas Smith said: “It is with some sadness that I stand down from the Board of Arts & Business Scotland having greatly enjoyed my relationship with them over many years. There are exciting new opportunities for A&BS to pursue in the coming years as they continue their work to forge new and stronger relationships between the arts and business sectors and I look forward to watching their success as a business member.”

The A&BS board has recently undergone a recruitment process appointing a number of new Trustees who will be named in the coming weeks.
