Arts & Business Scotland has revealed that its annual Awards ceremony will this year take place in the Theatre Royal Glasgow.

The prestigious venue, which is currently undergoing major improvements to its public spaces, will play host to the ceremony and after party on Friday 24th October. Arts & Business Scotland has unveiled its choice of venue as the deadline for nominations for the Award categories closes.

Chief Executive of Arts & Business Scotland, David Watt said: “We are incredibly excited to be hosting our Awards ceremony in such a prestigious and dramatic new building and hope this will add an interesting twist to the event which is now in its 27th year.

“We have changed the entire format of the evening to take advantage of the layout and ambience of the Theatre Royal, moving away from the traditional sit down dinner, opting for a more informal approach allowing guests to come together and make the most of such a fantastic venue.”

The ambitious building project at the theatre will see the creation of a new entrance, spacious foyers and a roof terrace and will accommodate new bars, a box office, hospitality suites and education suite. The 2014 Awards event will open with a canapé reception, followed by the Awards ceremony in the auditorium and celebratory party in the theatre’s new extension.

Deadlines for nominations closed at 5pm on Monday 5th May with the shortlist due to be announced early in the summer. This year’s partnership award categories include placemaking, people, digital innovation, entrepreneurship/sustainability and international.
