Barclay Price to retire as Arts & Business Scotland’s Chief Executive from end March 2013
Arts & Business Scotland today announced that Chief Executive, Barclay Price has decided to retire. Barclay will leave Arts & Business Scotland at the end of March 2013.
Barclay said: “After more than eleven years as Chief Executive of this great organisation, and having overseen the demerger from the UK structure in November 2011 that established Arts & Business Scotland as an independent Scottish charity, I believe that now is the right time to step down and allow a new leader to take the organisation forward. I am proud of the work I have led in helping arts organisations cultivate business and private support, and grateful to my terrific and committed staff team that have ensured the organisation’s success. I know they and my successor will sustain the work of Arts & Business Scotland into the future.”
Barclay Price’s career has spanned employment in a bank; setting up and performing in a community-based theatre company; supporting the creation of small craft businesses; developing cultural policy; and engaging business with the arts. He worked in London for over 25 years and returned to Scotland in 1997 to be Depute Director of the Scottish Arts Council. In 2001 he joined Arts & Business Scotland as its Chief Executive.
He will remain as a Board Member of Creative Scotland.
