Storytelling is rooted in human experience. Stories help us seek out the truth, explain complex systems, resolve problems and connect with our fellow human beings through understanding and empathy. Storytelling is the mainstay of theatre and the magic that can make any message more memorable.

The Hidden Power of Storytelling will explore how storytelling techniques can help organisations build better relationships and communicate more clearly to staff, stakeholders and customers. Delivered over a half day or a full day, your team will create stories together and learn how to tell them for maximum impact.

• Connecting with customers and stakeholders – put yourself in another character’s shoes to inspire new perspectives and approaches and transform business relationships.
• Telling the company story – harness the power of storytelling to explain why you do what you do and how you got to where you are.

A Scottish Youth Theatre creative producer and a writer/director will lead an interactive exploration of the story you want to tell. You bring the characters and the pieces of a plot and together we’ll shape compelling ways of telling that story to the audiences you need to reach.

Since 1976, Scottish Youth Theatre (SYT) has supported the social and personal development of young people all over Scotland.

Our purpose is to collaborate with young theatre artists to create experiences and events that reverberate in their lives, their communities and their country. Through nearly five decades of workshops and productions, we’ve offered unique opportunities to young people, supporting them to learn, grow and achieve. While they are with us, they develop their capacity for creativity, their performance skills, their empathy, and their confidence to build relationships and deliver great results under pressure. These invaluable skills support their future success, whatever business sector they join.

Based all over Scotland, we’re a small and agile team, working remotely and collaboratively to deliver our work in different parts of the country. Our youth theatre projects offer a range of ways for young people to participate, including through skills-based workshops, by making and touring new theatre work and through paid traineeships with wrap-around support for emerging young professionals.

A few of our ‘alumni’ are names you may recognise, but we do much more than develop the stars of the future. During a young person’s formative years, we build experiences and learning that will travel with them throughout their lives, providing them with a platform and the skills to interrogate, question and reflect on the things that matter to them.
