Dundee Rep Theatre was granted Grade-A listed status by Historic Environment Scotland in early 2022 for its ‘exceptional design quality and contribution to civic life, society and culture in Scotland’.

Located in the heart of Dundee’s cultural quarter, we are just steps away from the city centre, the train station, both universities, and multiple hotels and restaurants. Our auditorium seats up to 450 people, but can be adapted for groups of smaller sizes, as can our stage, which can feature a podium and screen for just one, or a full theatre set, choir and cast. Within our building we have multiple studios and rehearsal spaces to accommodate meetings, breakouts and other activities, as well as our award-winning restaurant and dedicated café/ bar.

Together our twin ensembles have established a reputation as one of the UK’s leaders in theatre and dance production, carrying the Dundee brand far and wide.  We look outwards, creating and delivering work for local, national and international audiences. Learning sits at the heart of all we do, underpinned by our vision of ‘inspiring community transformation and wellbeing through the arts’.

As an organisation, we are agile and responsive. During the early days of the pandemic, our creative team conceived and produced ‘Where are you Dundee’ using our online presence to create short pieces involving tasks or ideas in which people could participate. This attracted an audience of over 120,000, earning multiple awards, and was the result of our multi-artform team of professionals bringing their skills, experience and creativity together to support public mental health and wellbeing during lockdown.

Dundee Rep Theatre ensemble actors are full-time Rep employees, professionally trained and with decades of experience in theatre, film, television, and radio, performing in drama, comedy, documentaries and musicals. Dundee Rep has also served as a place of education and instruction for many years and we are experts in using drama as a vehicle for learning with students and now with business organisations too.
